About

Mental disorders (such as mood disorders, schizophrenia and autism spectrum disorders) represent a heavy burden for those affected, their families and society. They represent a major cause of disability and generate a significant socio-economic cost, estimated in France at 160 billion euros. The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a dramatic increase in depressive disorders, however, despite the urgency of the situation and its societal repercussions, the field of psychiatry suffers from a lack of innovation and attractiveness in both care and research professions.

Goals

PROPSY-EDU Educate, inspire and destigmatize mental health

PROPSY EDU will support the development of a new generation of scientists and caregivers in precision psychiatry by organizing, through an innovative educational portfolio, the transfer of new knowledge into clinical practice. In addition, PROPSY EDU will increase awareness and contribute to reducing the stigma of psychiatric disorders in society.

The actions implemented are intended to educate, train and raise awareness among the next generation of scientists and health professionals (psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, researchers). They aim to achieve four main objectives:

  • Educate and train early career caregivers in precision psychiatry, new personalized diagnostic and treatment tools that they can use in their practice

  • support research projects in precision psychiatry conducted by young researchers

  • motivate and inspire young health professionals and researchers by developing incentive actions and creating a sense of belonging

  • destigmatize mental health among young professionals and the community

Overall, the aim is to contribute to the current paradigm shift in the field of psychiatry. By capitalizing on the means and methods to train, attract and retain talent, the project aims to strengthen the attractiveness of the discipline and drive precision medicine in mental health.
